How NPProof Works
Our Principle
Nurse practitioners increasingly deliver primary care, yet few patients verify them. We meet that with government data instead of star ratings: verify the license, check for discipline, see real experience — and read honest, evidence-based education. We don't rank, and we don't sell leads.
Data Sources
NPPES (National Plan and Provider Enumeration System)
Published by CMS. Contains every provider with an NPI: name, credentials, taxonomy, practice address, enumeration date. Updated monthly.

State Boards of Nursing
Each state board maintains license status and public disciplinary actions. We link every profile directly to the correct board so you always see the most current, authoritative record.
What We Verify
- NPI Active: The nursepractitioner has a valid National Provider Identifier
- License Active: Verify current status with the state board (we link you there)
- No Disciplinary Actions: Check the board's public record
- Credentials Verified: DC credential confirmed
- Established Practice: More than 3 years practicing
What We Don't Do
- We don't rank nursepractitioners by "quality" — there's no objective free data for that
- We don't accept payment for better placement or verification badges
- We don't republish disciplinary records — we link to the authoritative board instead
- We don't provide medical advice
